I knew Pierre Rehov as a director of documentaries on the conflicts in the Middle East, but I am surprised to discover that he is also a talented author of novels. “Beyond Red Lines” is an action and spy novel that uniquely addresses the problem of Islamic terrorism. The story of Theo, gifted in computer science but also an elite killer, dragged in spite of himself into a hellish adventure where everything is taken away from him, even his family, is moving, icy. The suspense is permanent. And then, big questions arise. How to fight against this scourge? Are democracies being held back by their own rules? With Rehov’s novel, we are in the world of Tom Clancy and Ken Follet. This story caught me by surprise and I couldn’t let go of the novel until it was finished.
